What problem do you strive to overcome?

It's normal to feel overwhelmed by the process of starting therapy. The idea of explaining how you're feeling to a stranger can be daunting. You want to know that there's a light at the end of the tunnel that makes it worth it to step into the first session - and that the process will get easier.

I understand that the first session is scary and acknowledge that it is a big first step to even begin treatment. I keep my therapeutic approach flexible depending on an individual's needs and abilities. I understand that we all have unique learning styles and come to therapy with this in mind, to provide an individual with the best chance of success.

My goal is to help you take back control of your life and learn the tools and skills to continue to face and embrace challenges. I will always do my best to meet you where you are at and create a safe space for you to process your feelings. I focus on the small wins in treatment, and before you know it you will be conquering much larger ones. Together, we will collaborate on treatment objectives to best meet your intended goals.

Experience:

Mikayla is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and a Pepperdine University graduate with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. She currently works under the supervision of licensed psychologist, Dr. Bridgette Atallah. During her Master's program, she interned at PRYDE working as a diversion specialist for at-risk youth and their families providing individualized treatment and case management. Over the past couple of years, she has worked in a variety of different treatment settings from private practice to school systems. She was a part of The OCD Center of Los Angeles where she worked with and assessed clients with symptoms of OCD, phobias, and panic disorders. Mikayla also has an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, and loves working with individuals who display physical manifestations of anxiety-related conditions by exploring the mind-body connection.

More than just my work:

I love to read and dream of building a library comparable to the one in Beauty and the Beast. I also am a coffee lover, and if you mention a coffee shop I can guarantee there's a good chance I already tried it!
