Renata Vieira, MA, is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #12124), supervised by licensed psychologist Dr. Bridgette Atallah. Renata provides psychotherapy to adults/older adults, adolescents, and children, and her specialties include anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder), depression, life transitions, grief and loss (including prolonged grief disorder), guilt, low self-esteem, and mood disorders. She offers both in-person and telehealth services.
Renata strives to cultivate a safe, friendly, and non-judgemental environment to help her clients reach their goals and improve their well-being, through providing them with the necessary coping strategies, empowerment, and support. She believes therapy is personalized to each client's needs and aims to build a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship with them. Through cultural sensitivity and empathic validation, she welcomes her clients to collaborate with her to find what will be most effective and long-lasting in their therapy journey, while gaining the tools to become the expert in improving their lives.
Renata utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as her primary therapeutic approach. CBT is an evidence-based, present-focused and problem-specific modality. It has been proven to impact long standing challenges by developing skills and coping strategies while processing thoughts, moods, behaviors, and physical sensations simultaneously. Renata utilizes CBT to help her clients adopt healthier ways of thinking to lead more productive and rewarding lives.
Renata received her Master’s degree from University of San Diego. She is a bilingual clinician, fluent in English and Portuguese. Her clinical experience includes hospice, forensic, outpatient, and inpatient settings. Additionally, Renata has worked with individuals with substance use disorders, older adults experiencing difficult life transitions, and children and families experiencing loss.
